If 911 is the brain, then the Records Section should be considered the Heart of the Jackson County Office of the Sheriff's organization. They are responsible for the orderly keeping and efficient processing of all Department reports, requests, firearm permits, registrations, identification and all records management.

The Records Division is staffed by clerks and Deputies whose day to day responsibilities change continually. If you would like to obtain a copy of a report or register a firearm, the office hours are Monday through Friday 08:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The hours for registering firearms are 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The telephone number is (517) 768-7925.
