The Jackson County Mounted Division consists of nine members of the community who volunteer to be part of the unit.
The Mounted division is made up of a captain, sergeant and seven deputies who have attended a rigorous 12 week training course. This course is required and prepares members for situations they may encounter as a Mounted Deputy. Each member must provide a horse, equipment, and transportation for the horse to each event. The Mounted Division's primary duties include search and rescue, crowd control, security for county events, and parade duties. Members of the unit do not receive compensation and volunteer their time to make Jackson County a safer place to live.
