Emergency Dispatch Division
Michigan's
second Central Dispatch Center was located in the Jackson
County Court Building in 1975. We moved to the Jackson
County Sheriff's Department in 1988 and returned to our
original site here in the Jackson County Court Building
in January 1999. We have returned and have one of the most
technologically enhanced 911 Centers in Michigan.
In
Jackson City - County you call 911 for all police, fire
and rescues services. The Jackson County Sheriff's
Department Communication Center is the Central Dispatch
location for any police, fire, or rescue service.
Emergecny or Non Emergency. Emergency Dispatch is
located within the Jackson County Sheriff Department, the
Emergency Dispatch Division is a mult- jurisdictional emergency
service dispatch service provider for the Jackson City -
County Area. This seven day a week, twenty four hour a day,
operation is staffed by twenty four (24) telecommunicators.
Solidly based in emerging technologies, Emergency Dispatch
is an enhanced, computer assisted, emergency dispatch center.
The Emergency Dispatch Division is the first 911communications
center in the State of Michigan to utilize Motorola On-Board
Mobile Data Computer Terminals interfaced enhanced with
Automatic Vehicle Locators and refined by Trimbal Global
Satellite Positioning equipment. Every patrol, all lead
fire - rescue, and ambulance vehicles will be equipped with
this innovative equipment.
We
have recently created an additional public service answering
point at the Huron Valley Ambulance Company located in Ann
Arbor, Michigan. Huron Valley has assumed the role
of the medical prescreening and prearrival medical instruction
provider for Jackson County. The benefits are tremendous.
Jackson City-County residents will receive medical information
from the highly skilled and trained staff fro Huron Valley
at no cost to Jackson Tax Payers. This is a WIN-WIN
situation.
