Jackson County Animal Control Officers enforce the Michigan State Dog Laws as well as the Jackson County Animal Protection Ordinances. Officers respond to both emergency and non-emergency domestic animal problems and can be dispatched by calling 911.

Animal Control Officers are dispatched to handle the following types of complaints:

  1. Dangerous/vicious dogs
  2. Human or animals attacked/bitten by dog
  3. Livestock killed by dog
  4. Dogs running loose
  5. Animal cruelty complaints
  6. Injured animals
  7. Wandering/loose livestock-will be secured until owners can be found
  8. Transport stray domestic animals to the animal shelter
